Isobel Somerfield, after a varied life with many interests and experiences behind her, trained at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, the only College specializing in the McTimoney Chiropractic technique. This remarkably effective, gentle, Technique was developed some 60 years ago by Englishman John McTimoney, who also adapted his whole body Chiropractic adjustments for animals as well.
Since the passing of the Chiropractic Act in 1994 all Chiropractors must have received training from a recognized College of Chiropractic and be registered with the General Chiropractic Council. Chiropractors are now regarded as “Primary Care Providers”. This means that patients do not need to be referred to us by their GP. It is for this reason that Chiropractors’ training enables them to take a detailed history to ensure that Chiropractic is an appropriate mode of care for the presenting condition of each patient.
As well as her work with human patients of Veterinarian and Homoeopath, Sue Armstrong, at Balanced Being Integrative Veterinary Centre in Wetherby, she is delighted that she is now able to welcome Chiropractic patients to The Hide, at Spa Bottom Farm, a really lovely venue which is to be Isobel’s “home” clinic. Both Claire Towne and Isabel hope that The Hide and McTimoney Chiropractic will prove a valuable resource for many of you who have musculoskeletal and posture related discomfort.
Joint problems and musculoskeletal pain can occur for many reasons, including:
Poor posture/incorrect gait
Stress – physical, mental or emotional
Incorrect lifting techniques
Car or sporting accidents
McTimoney Chiropractic is comfortable to receive and is proven to be effective in treating the following conditions:
Back, neck and shoulder pain
Pain, discomfort and stiffness in joints
Sporting injuries and falls
Patients usually enjoy the gentle and effective technique that is McTimoney Chiropractic. The mode of adjustment is so gentle that it is generally suitable for most people from the new born infant right through to the very elderly.
McTimoney Chiropractic is a “whole body” approach using swift, gentle and precise adjustments. We check and generally treat the whole body at each appointment – not just the area that hurts. Our experience being that it is necessary to treat the entire person to attain optimum “wellness” for each patient. Chiropractic adjustments can affect the nervous system with, sometimes, far reaching beneficial effects for the patient.
The aim of Chiropractic is to attain and maintain a state of balance that is “normal” for the individual and will allow him or her to go about his/her daily life without being in a semi-permanent state or “aches and pains”.
